Smudge Ink products are sold all over the United States, Canada and beyond! Please see the “where to buy” section of our website to find a retailer in your area. You may also purchase select products in our online store.
What is letterpress printing?
Letterpress printing is when a raised, wrong reading image is pressed into a piece of paper. The result is a hand crafted, 3-dimensional piece of art. Various letterpress machines can be used to product this effect. At Smudge Ink we use a Heidelberg Windmill, Chandler and Price Platen Presses and a trusty Vandercook Proofing Press.
What is offset printing?
Offset printing is a printing technique where the inked image is transferred (or “offset”) from a plate to a rubber blanket, then to the printing surface. Offset printing works because water and the inks used in the printing process do not mix. The images to be printed are created on the computer and then “burned” onto metal plates using a chemical developing process similar to photography. The metal plates are mounted on cylinders on the press and dampened with water that adheres to the areas without images. The ink is added next, one color at a time, where it sticks to the areas with images. The image transfers from the plate to the blanket cylinder. The paper is fed between the blanket and impression cylinder.
Can I customize your greeting cards?
All of our holiday cards and imprintables are customizable. Please see the individual product pages in our online store for these items and fill out the custom order form. All other greeting cards, reusable shoppers, notepads and boxed notes are not customizable.

We take pride in recycling and reusing everything possible in our working studio.
